ABOUT LUKE ASHLEY

I’m Luke Ashley, I’m 30 years old and I work mainly at my studio Aura Ninety Four in North Greenwich, South East London.

I started tattooing in 2010 in a local studio. I am self taught and have always enjoyed the challenge of working out what techniques worked best for different tattoos and placements. I think this is where my curiosity started with palm tattoos. I was always told it was a near impossible task and had great respect for the artists tattooing this area of the body. I therefore wanted to work it out for myself. I now specialise in palm tattoos and it’s my favourite tattoo to make. I am still learning with each tattoo I do and working out new techniques to hold the ink in everyone’s individual skin.

I love tattooing and all the opportunities it has opened up for me. I regularly guest in Europe and work at plenty of tattoo conventions each year. I love to meet other artists and see how they work and spark each others creativity. I feel blessed to be able to tattoo as a profession and experience everything the world has to offer!

I am sponsored by Vlad Blad Irons. I have always used their machines to tattoo palms as they are so hard hitting but can still finesse lines effortlessly through thick skin. 

I feel very passionately about tattooing and love the experience of meeting new people. I enjoy taking people’s ideas and running with them to create something that they’ll see in front of them for the rest of their lives. I am happy to work in nearly any style when it comes to palms and love pushing boundaries on what can and can’t be done! My favourite styles to work in are neo-traditional and heavy linework geometric. Anything where I can use all the space available to me and get creative with the composition.
